Background
Marc Wakefield
Marc began his career in XR back in 2015, transitioning from his web design business to building AR and VR apps in unity.
In 2017 Marc applied to be one of the initial 300 beta testers for Meta Spark AR, and went on to play a significant role in shaping the platform’s development. Marc created perhaps the very first viral filter by an independent creator with his Creepy Clown AR effect which reached 100’s of millions of Facebook users globally and was invited to F8 2018 & attend a round table session with Mark Zuckerberg about the future of AR.
Marc has also been featured a number of times in short films from the Meta Spark team, ranging from work showcases, to educational content introducing other creators to the Meta Spark templates the team at Wakefield:XR built for Meta.
Ross Wakefield
Before Co-founding Wakefield:XR, Ross led a previous life as an experiential retail designer and creative director, designing a broad range of commercial interiors across Europe, Asia and the Middle East in the fashion, supermarket, telecoms, food and beverage, leisure, and retail sectors.
Ross began developing Social AR experiences in 2018 and went on have his work featured by Meta in the top 10 AR filters of the year, multiple features at Meta Connect, Meta’s annual developer conference and even an appearance on the Ellen Degeneres show.
